Good Greens & Grief — April Showers, May Flowers

Good Greens & Grief — April Showers, May Flowers

Hey sugas,

We made it through April. Just barely. Tender and tired, full of contentment and clarity, blooming in places I didn’t expect and grieving things I thought were already laid to rest.

This week was a slow exhale. A check-in with my soil. A reminder that sometimes, the only thing to do is water the good, sit with the sorrow, and trust that something beautiful is on the way.

The Good Greens

Let’s talk green, plants that is—because even when everything feels uncertain, walking through a market full of fresh herbs, florals, and handmade magic can bring you right back to your body.

Here are some of my favorite, and yet to be explored, businesses I’m looking forward to supporting this season:

  • Botanical Bar – a gem in downtown Indy with house plants and a curated collection of non-alcoholic wines, spirits, and mixers

  • Conjure South – if you're seeking herbs, books, and other products that are culturally congruent for the liberation of your mind, body, and spirit…this is it.

  • EarthLife - a remix of the typical neighborhood corner store with herbs, tinctures, and vegan eats

  • Elephant Gardens – a haven of medicinal herbs, starters, and flowerbed dreams on Indy’s Eastside

  • Georgetown Market - the neighborhood market I wish we all had

  • Grounded Plant & Floral – therapy in the form of plant vibes and intentional bouquets

  • Rooted with Ruby – Ruby is the community herbalist-healer-plant-doula we all need

The Grief

April held a lot of old grief for me. Some ancestral. Some personal. Some tied to the version of myself I thought I’d be by now.

I’ve been unpacking the losses that don't always get words. Dreams that didn't sprout. Relationships that didn’t hold. Plans that got paused. And the wild part? Grief and gratitude have been walking hand in hand the whole way.

🎂 Looking Ahead: Chapter 35 is Calling

So here we are. Birthday energy loading...
May 3rd is tomorrow, and honestly, I’m at peace with who & where I am.

If April was the watering, May is the blooming.
And this time, I’m blooming slowly, joyfully, and with purpose.

There’s a softness unfolding. A full-circle feeling. A truth that wants to be told—and I’m ready to spill the tea (literally and metaphorically) with y’all soon.

🌸 Next Month/Season's Theme: Nomadic Nature

This blog series is all about soft power, blooming without apology, and the joy of slowing down. I’ll be sharing:

  • Birthday reflections and photos

  • BTS of Tea for Two Live’s return

  • Nomad dreams and tings

  • Tips for building a daily rest ritual as the days get longer

  • Love notes to my tribe and village of (mostly) local makers, growers, and genuinely safe community spaces

And of course... a peek inside my new podcast, more info (including the name) will drop in June.

Until then, treat yourself gently. Hydrate your grief. Bask in the green things. And if you see a flower blooming wildly in the middle of a sidewalk crack—remember: that just may be a reflection of you.

With muddy hands and an open heart,
TM 💚
